Since living in Bedford Street from 1999 to 2005, I've been fascinated by the historical works in Wolverton. Having used the train to commute to school/college/University for years in my youth, I've always had a soft spot for trains and anything related to journeys by rail. I've travelled on trains in various countries across Europe and beyond; and marvelled at the engineering achievements and hard work of the people who made rail travel possible.
I decided to do some lino-reduction prints based on the Wolverton works windows (gas works and railway works). Windows are often the only means by which the general public can catch a glimpse of what goes on inside a building; but over time, they become part of our personal, social and historical landscape; windows into the past...
